My background includes writing hard news, investigative series, travel, and long-form feature articles. My bylines have ranged from Slovakia to Sweden to Sumatra. I have published in the Washington Post, San Jose Mercury News, Vice, LA Weekly, OZY, and other print and digital outlets.
I have also been a consultant for nonprofit organizations and international agencies (most recently the Global Landscapes Forum ), and am a member of the advisory board for the Roshan Learning Center in Jakarta, Indonesia. Other projects have included developing and launching Aquapedia for the Water Education Foundation.
Before completing an MA in public affairs journalism from Stanford University, I served in the Peace Corps in Poland, teaching at a teacher's college connected to Gdansk University and at a public high school.
